Figured out that the best way to spare yet annoy that fish...undye?

Is to flee when you can you see when the fish changes your soul back to red you can flee so flee when you get the chance or stay in battle to spare witch is less annoying to the fish!

So uh how many bones again? Also why was there a blue and red soul at the same time when i was playing this game?
